Description

Vineyard
Cecilia Cinsault is vinified from an old bush vine vineyard planted in 1976. Growing on the Piekenierskloof plateau at an altitude of 700 meters and 50 kilometers from the Atlantic ocean, these old vines have learned to cope without irrigation by balancing themselves to only produce what nature will allow them to ripen each season. 

Winemaking
The grapes are hand-harvested in 20 kg crates and crushed into large open-top barrels where regular punchdowns are done. Twenty percent of the berries remain intact, additions are limited to a minimum and native yeasts conduct the fermentation at a gentle pace. After fermentation the skins are gently pressed and the wine is siphoned into inert barrels for five months before bottling. 

Tasting Notes
A refreshingly light burst of red fruit and soft, juicy tannins are the hallmarks of this old vine Cinsault.
